ABOUT MR. HERBERT PERERA VETERAN AND AWARD WINNING PHOTOJOURNALIST WHO COMPLETED 50TH YEAR IN MEDIA JUNE 2025

Veteran Photojournalist Mr. Herbert Perera reached the pinnacle of his Photojournalism career when he celebrated his 50th Milestone Anniversary as a Photojournalist in June this year. It was the culminating upswing high point of a career that had seen Herbert hobnob almost the entire human hemisphere of people from all walks of life from the highest to the common man across the world with his like magic wand camera capturing activities from sports to lifestyle which today stand out pictorially portraying the mighty value input of his camera dexterity. Indeed, this artful dexterity that Herbert commands from his halcyon young days in the prime of his career to this day remains the magic of his expertise in the field sporting a young at heart endearing flashy smile that sets him apart as a true professional legend in the field, and still batting strong as ever.

He started his Journalism career as a Photojournalist and Sports Reporter for Sun and Weekend Newspapers Published by Gunasena Publishers Ltd and his first official coverage was the Prudential Cricket World Cup Tournament 1975 played in England for the Sun and the Weekend Newspapers. Then in 1980 he joined Associated Newspapers of (Ceylon) Ltd (Lake House) New Capital of Sri Lanka as the Kotte Pictures and Sports Correspondent and covered Features, Business, Tourism, Entertainment, Fashions and mainly Sports Coverages in writing and as a photographer in Sri Lanka and Overseas covering the Sri Lankan National Cricket Team’s International Tours in all Test Playing countries and grounds in the world. And also in 1996 World Cup played in Pakistan and sports reporting and covering photography in Women’s World Cup in 2005 in South Africa, Twenty 20 and One Day Limited Over World Cup matches in Australia, England, South Africa, India, Pakistan, West indies, Zimbabwe, Dubai and Abu Dhabi Cricket Grounds for the past 45 years.
