Guided by its ambition of reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2050, sustainability is deeply embedded into the company’s operations. Over the years, Nestle’ Lanka has taken meaningful steps to reduce the environmental footprint of its operations, including the commissioning of a biomass boiler in 2024 to lower carbon emissions in its manufacturing operations and utilizing 100% renewable electricity at its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Kurunegala.
As part of Nestle’ Lanka’s journey towards building a circular economy, the company continues to take a thoughtful and proactive approach to addressing packaging waste. This includes pioneering the switch from plastic to paper straws in aseptic beverage cartons in 2019, as well as supporting the establishment of the country’s first recycling plant for aseptic beverage cartons, helping strengthen local recycling infrastructure and enable responsible disposal at scale . Looking ahead, Nestle’ Lanka aims to become 100% plastic neutral in 2026.
